Brief:  Talk show set where the topic is birth control and reproductive issues facing today’s woman.  The set should evoke maturity, strength, and femininity, yet be playful and soft.

(1,2)  I chose to work with translucent materials and light to create depth and glow.  I submitted an Aexander Girard fabric swatch and a simple list of words in our preliminary meetings with the agency to test the waters, and they were very excited to see we were on the same page aesthetically.

The set as built on a New York soundstage, utilizing lights I designed that would shimmer and reflect off of one another.  The use of gels to give a simple modern feminine color palette with glossy acrylic decking and facing to reflect the shimmering pendant lamps.

(3) Original ‘rough’ concept sketch that was one of several we presented, yet captured the feeling the agency and client were looking for.

(4)  Due to a compressed schedule, I elected to use digital previsualization for approvals and communication with construction (drawings and layout plots).  this is very handy on short prep times in order to be able to prvisualize unlimited camera angles with my director and director of photography.

Additionally, we had a multi-camera technical staff and specific lighting requirements so this illustration process facilitated smooth integration of all departments, while informing our agency and client.

(5)  One of the final iterations of the digital illustrations, giving us all the placement and scale information we needed to finalize approvals and construction.
